Lavender & Lace Overnight Journey to Le Mars

    Thursday, July 13 - Friday, July 14

This beautiful northwest area of Iowa features the scenic landscape of the Loess Hills. The unique formation of the hills are made almost entirely of windblown soils.  July will be prime time for visiting the Loess Hills Lavender Farm. We will tour the farm which has over 2000 plants with over 10 varietals. You can browse the artwork of over 40 local artisans and partake in a Lavender Tasting, as well! After a scatter lunch and shopping in Le Mars, we will tour the famous Wells Blue Bunny Visitor Center. Le Mars is known as the "Ice Cream Capital of the World" for a reason...this is one tasting you won't want to miss! The highlight of the day is sure to be the evening dinner and live performance at The Browns Century Theater. The Browns perform a variety of shows in this beautifully restored, state of the art Music Theater.

Day 2 - Bertrand Steamboat Museum After some shopping and lunch at The Master's Hands, we will travel to the Bertrand Steamboat Museum.  The Bertrand was a steamboat which sank on April 1, 1865, while carrying cargo up the Missouri River, after hitting a snag north of Omaha. Today, the artifacts are displayed in this museum and are a time capsule of everyday life during that period.

    Sunday, Sept 3 - Sunday, Sept 10

There's something special about Asheville, and the world is just beginning to discover it. This thriving mountain city features a funky and eclectic downtown, 30-plus art galleries downtown alone, a burgeoning culinary scene, a thriving live music scene and, of course, the awe-inspiring scenery of the Appalachian Mountains. First Stop – Indianapolis Because we can’t get there in one day… we have a few stops planned along the way. We’ll be stopping in the Indianapolis area overnight and take in a few local Arts & Crafts sites both on our way in and out.

Welcome to Asheville! Upon arrival to our 4-night stay in the city, you will be hosted at a welcome reception. Then you can relax and settle in before we begin our 3-day exploration of the area.

Asheville Trolley Tour After a morning trolley tour of the downtown Asheville area, you’ll have the chance to explore on your own and choose to check out the places that are most appealing to you.

Chimney Rock & Lake Lure Chimney Rock will rock your world! This 535-million-year-old towering monolith has been an iconic focal point in the Western North Carolina mountains for well over a century. You’ll walk across the “Flowering Bridge” and enjoy an afternoon boat ride on Lake Lure, well known for its role in the movie “Dirty Dancing”.

Biltmore Estates & Village  We will spend a day touring the magnificent formal gardens and artful landscape, as well as the Biltmore House, an impressive 250-room chateau that is truly a wonder of architecture and artistry. Our tour includes meandering in Antler Hill Village which was the social center for families who lived and worked on the estate. Casual entertainment, dining, shopping, exhibits and complimentary wine tasting from the Estate Vineyard.

Our Return Journey – Smokey Mountains & Churchill Downs  Our path homeward will wind its way through the Smokey Mountains and eventually lead us up to Kentucky where we will take an overnight respite. The following day as we set out, we will stop for a tour of Churchill Downs, the world famous home of the Kentucky Derby.

St. Charles & Hannibal Our last evening of the journey will be spent in quaint St. Charles, Missouri where we will have one last gathering as a group for dinner in the historic downtown district. The next day on our final leg, we will stop to take in a few sites in Hannibal, Missouri before returning home.

Asheville is that type of unique, special place that lingers sweetly in your mind and memories for years to come.
