Bridges & Birthplaces Tour
Thursday, July 20th
Madison County is home to many famous covered bridges from bygone eras like the Roseman Bridge, which was figured prominently in the novel and movie The Bridges of Madison County. We will tour it and others as we explore the Winterset area - including the newly renovated John Wayne Birthplace and Museum.
As we scatter for lunch around the town square, you may want to pop in to the Iowa Quilt Museum which houses many exhibits of both vintage and modern quilts. In the afternoon, we will enjoy an informative program and homemade dessert at the Wallace Farm, birthplace of Henry A. Wallace - "The Most Influential Iowan of the 20th Century". The day concludes with a stop in Greenfield for a tour of the Cultural Center and a whirl around the town square.
