Nordic Overnight Adventure in Decorah
Wednesday, Sept 7 - Thursday, Sept 8
6:30 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Travel with us as we explore the cultural treasures of Northeast Iowa on this 2-day/1 night adventure. A favorite attraction for many years, our first stop will be the Bily Clocks Museum & Antonin Dvorak Exhibit. Then, it's off to lunch in The Landing Market in Decorah - a modern food hall with a cozy Scandinavian flare. The first afternoon includes a tour of the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum - an experience you will long remember no matter what your heritage!
Our overnight accommodations will be at the Hotel Winneshiek, an upscale and stunningly renovated historic landmark with 21st century comfort and 19th century charm. A group dinner is planned at Goliath Brewery.
Day 2 includes three guided tours: Seed Savers - stewards of America's culturally diverse and endangered garden and food crop legacy for present and future generations. Learn how they collect, regenerate and share heirloom seeds, plants and stories. Decorah Fish Hatchery - tour the hatchery and see the trout. You may also spot one of the famous Decorah eagles in the maple tree.Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum - In 1876, the Ingalls family moved to Burr Oak, Iowa to help manage the Masters Hotel. It is the only childhood home of Laura Ingalls Wilder that remains on its original site.
